Born in Karlsruhe, Germany, Krishna Thiagarajan played his first public recital at the age of eight. A prize-winner at the German 'Jugend Musiziert' competitions his performances have taken him across Germany, the USA, Italy, Canada and Japan. In 1989 and 1996 Krishna and his brother, violinist Ashoka Thiagarajan, were featured in concert tours through India by the India Music Societies and the German "Goethe Gesellschaft". Performances included concerts in Mumbai (Bombay), Delhi, Madras and Poona and were met with enthusiasm and wide acclaim by audiences and the press alike. Equally successful was a concert tour in the United States that included a performance in Weil Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York in 1998. The coming seasons concerts will include performances throughout Germany, Italy, Belgium and the USA.
Krishna Thiagarajan has recorded for West German Television, as well as radio recordings on 'Radio Midday, Bombay' and WXXI, Rochester, NY, where he performed with violinist Joanna Whang in 1996. In 1997 Krishna Thiagarajan was a founding member of the 'Kammermusik Kurs Dortmund,' a chamber music academy for masterclasses in Dortmund, Germany .

Krishna Thiagarajan graduated from Indiana University where he studied with Prof. Leonard Hokanson and taught as an assistant instructor for piano. He has also worked with such musicians as Menahem Pressler, Gyorgy Sebok, Oxana Yablonskaya and Stefan Askenase and has performed at festivals in Banff, Canada and the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany.
He received a scholarship from Indiana University and in 1995 was awarded the prestigious Dr. Carl Dörken fellowship for excellence in the arts. His recording of the Alban Berg Sonata Op. 1 was issued on the "Meister von Morgen" CD series.
Currently Krishna is pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts Degree with Prof. Santiago Rodriguez at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he also taught piano as an Assistant Instructor. He joined the piano faculty at the University of Central Arkansas in January 2005 where he teaches applied piano and serves as the Director of Accompanying.
